Youngest Additions to the Family

Welcome Fiona and Sean to the family!
Congratulations to Jenny and Iain!
Here is the news from Foster City...
Hi all, Sorry for the delays in getting this announcement out… as you might imagine we have been rather busy since the arrival of our twins last Friday, February 20, 2009. After heading into the hospital early Thursday morning to be induced, Fiona Cate Russell and Sean Thomas Russell were with us the following morning at 2:41am and 3:07am. They were very evenly matched weighing in at 7lbs 3 oz./ 19” long and 7lbs 2oz./ 19.5” long respectively. The delivery, while well attended with 1 ob/gyn doc, 2 labor & delivery nurses monitoring the babies, 1 sonography nurse, 1 surgical nurse, 1 pediatric doctor, 2 pediatric nurses, 2 anesthesiologists & dad, was surprisingly straightforward when considering that twins were being delivered. The twins are off to a great start scoring high marks on their Apgar tests ;-) Both kids have a good head of brown hair and indeterminate eye color at this time. Sean was also sporting a Mediterranean complexion (which is
an early sign of jaundice) and a rather large hickey on the top of his head from the vacuum used to speed up his descent down the birth canal (as his heart rate was dropping). Both are fading quickly. Jenny is extremely relieved to have them both safely on the outside and of course Gillian is so excited to be a big sister. She is already very adept at comforting them by letting them suckle on her finger! We are hanging in there and trying to adjust to life with less sleep and two more mouths to feed. We are very fortunate to have John and Alma (Grandparents) here providing much appreciated help and support. We are also looking forward to the
arrival of Holly (other grandparent), who will be arriving in mid-March to relieve them for a couple of weeks. It is a treat for Gillian to have her grandparents around also! Best regards to all,
